The newly renovated and expanded George H. Bass II Visual Arts Center provides five large studio spaces including a ceramics studio, a black and white film darkroom, a painting and drawing studio, a sculpture studio, a new media lab, and the Advanced Placement Studio. In the AP room advanced students have individual studio space to create in class and outside of the academic day. The studios are open and accessible for young artists to explore a variety of mediums.
At the Williams Woodworking Studio, students can take beginning and advanced woodworking classes, environmental wood sculpture, and musical instrument design.
Students can pursue the visual arts in three different Advanced Placement courses: Drawing, 2D and 3D. Student artists participate in multiple gallery shows a year, both on campus in the Newton Gallery and in the local area. Each year, our graduating students apply and are accepted to some of the best art schools in the country, including the Rhode Island School of Design, Savannah College of Art, and Mass College of Art.
